Prof. Dr. Adnan Yazıcı is a full professor and the chair of the Department of Computer Engineering at Middle East Technical University, Ankara,Turkey. He received his PhD in Computer Science from the Department of EECS at Tulane University in the US, in 1991. He was a visiting professor at Tulane University between 1998 and 2000. His current research interests include; intelligent database systems, fuzzy database modeling, multimedia and video databases, multimedia information retrieval, and wireless multimedia sensor networks. He received the IBM Faculty Award in 2011 and the Parlar Foundation's Young Investigator Award in 2001. Prof.Dr. Yazıcı has published more than 180 international technical papers and co-authored two books, which are titled Fuzzy Database Modeling (by Springer) and Uncertainty Approaches for Spatial Data Modeling and Processing: a Decision Support Perspective (by Springer). Prof. Dr. Yazıcı was a Conference Co-Chair of the 23rd IEEE International Conference on Data Engineering (ICDE-2007), the 38th Very Large Data Bases (VLDB 2012) and the 23rd IEEE International Conference on Fuzzy Systems (FUZZ-IEEE 2015). He was also Program Co-Chair of the Flexible Query Answering Systems Conference (FQAS 2011), Program Committee Chair of the 18th Int. Symposium of Computer and Information Sciences (ISCIS 2003). He is a member of IEEE Fuzzy Systems Technical Committee (FSTC) and an Associate Editor of  IEEE Trans. on Fuzzy Systems. He is also the director of the Multimedia Database Lab at METU.
