Prof. Dr. Adnan Yazıcı received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Tulane University, New Orleans, USA, in 1991, where he also had been a visiting professor between 1998 and 2000. His current research interests include intelligent database systems, fuzzy database modeling, design and analysis of algorithms, indexing, spatio-temporal databases, multimedia and video databases, and wireless sensor network databases. Dr. Yazıcı has published more than 100 international technical papers and co-authored a book titled as Fuzzy Database Modeling (by Springer Verlag) and edited an LNCS on Computer and Information Sciences. He is a senior member of IEEE and has received one of the Young Investigator Awards bestowed by the Parlar Foundation, for the year 2001. Dr. Yazıcı is a Conference Co-Chair of 23^rd IEEE International Conference on Data and Knowledge Engineering (ICDE-2007) in 2007 and he was the Conference and Program Committee Chair of 18^th International Symposium of Computer and Information Sciences (ISCIS 2003). He is the director of Multimedia Database Lab. in his department. He serves as a committee member and reviewer in various international journals and conferences.
